Pure Word of God

June 22, 2015

Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.
Don’t add to His words,
or He will rebuke you, and you will be proved a liar.
Proverbs 30:5-6

The Bible shows us the tapestry of God's plan for humanity from beginning to end.  It's His perfect masterpiece, amazingly woven with delicate threads into loving patterns of redemption and grace.  The world tries picks at the threads, fraying it here and there, and then darns it with heavy wool, totally destroying the strength and truth of the original message.  (Any seamstress knows that if you use heavy thread on fine fabric, you'll damage it.)  Somehow what started out as a beautiful expression of God's love becomes ugly.  Even modern day Christian denominations think they can "improve" on what God has done, "updating" it.

God's Word is timeless (Heb. 13:8, John 1:1, 14) and will NEVER need any corrections, additions or deletions.  People who point to Leviticus as an example are deliberately ignoring the fact that Jesus fulfilled the law, but we are only free from it IF we have accepted His sacrifice in our place.  He is our Sabbath rest (Heb. 4:9-10) so that we no longer have to work for our salvation, but He does expect that we'll live according to His word and try to please Him if we love Him.  (John 14:21)  When we truly believe, we are filled with the Holy Spirit, who helps us become more like Jesus.  (Eph. 4:15, 23-24)

If you're bored with the Bible, try looking up the meanings of the names of any person or place mentioned.  You'll find it amazing and so enriching to your understanding of what God has done and is doing.  Notice that what has happened before happens again and God tells us about it BEFORE it happens!  (Matt. 24:25, Mark 13:23, John 14:29)  There is nothing new under the sun.  (Ecc. 1:9)  Don't be satisfied with a jingle explaining how Jesus is represented in every book of the Bible.  Dig deeper!  Learn and be astonished at all of the prophecies from the Old Testament that Jesus fulfilled during His ministry.  There are layers upon layers of truth in the Word waiting to be discovered.  And don't forget to pray before your study time that God will help you understand.  (Eph. 1:17)  I can tell you from personal experience that the more you know God, the more you will love Him. <3  He's not far away.  (Acts 17:27)

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.  Hebrews 13:8

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.  Hebrews 4:9-10

Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.  John 14:21

Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.  Ephesians 4:15

Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.  Ephesians 4:23-24

See, I have told you ahead of time.  Matthew 24:25

So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.  Mark 13:23

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.  Revelation 21:18-19

What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing new under the sun.  Ecclesiastes 1:9

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.  Ephesians 1:17

He did this so they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.  Acts 17:27

I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me. Proverbs 8:17
