Ties of Love

Your loved ones may know in their hearts beyond a shadow of a doubt that you love them, but they still need and like to hear it from you...  So does God.

I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love.
To them I was like one who lifts a little child to the cheek,
and I bent down to feed them.  Hosea 11:4

Daughters of Jerusalem, come out,
and look, you daughters of Zion.
Look on King Solomon wearing a crown,
the crown with which his mother crowned him
on the day of his wedding,
the day his heart rejoiced.

Bear Fruit

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.  John 14:16

God doesn't just want a piece of you.  He should not only be the center of your entire life, but He should completely fill and surround it.

Higher Ways

God never fails. We may fail to understand what He's doing (or not doing), but He's still in control. He still has a plan and it's a good, perfect one, just like Him, so wait for it. Wait for Him.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

"Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD." Psalms 27:14

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

New Life

But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit.  Romans 7:6

Spiritual Gifts

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.  1 Corinthians 12:4-6

Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm;
for love is as strong as death,
its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire,
like a mighty flame.
Many waters cannot quench love;
rivers cannot sweep it away.
If one were to give
all the wealth of one’s house for love,
it would be utterly scorned.
Song of Solomon 8:6-7

Did God Actually Say?

"Did God actually say?"  Genesis 3:1  If I hated God and wanted to attack His Son, I might start by attacking the first sentence of the Bible.  "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."  Genesis 1:1  Then I would probably attack the last book. "Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years."  Revelation 20:4  "Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. 15 Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood."  Revelation 22:14-15  Then I might go back and focus some more on the first book again.  "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."  Genesis 1:27

Why attack the first and last books?  Because Jesus is:  "...the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."  Revelation 22:13  Jesus is the Word.  "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being."  John 1:1-3

God made everything good.  "And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good."   Genesis 1:31  ALL of the problems the world has ever had, and will have, stem from entertaining this thought:  "Did God actually say?"  Genesis 3:1  The same entity is behind all of these attacks and it's the same one who asked that question.

Proverbs 1:8

My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.  Proverbs 1:8

I ran into this file on my computer just the other day. I’m pretty sure that any mom would love to have such a beautiful poem written for her!  I sure am blessed to have a daughter who loves and appreciates me that much.

My mom is the best in the creation,
Since she’s always there if I may need her.
She knows what it means to be a Christian,
And guides me to make my heart God’s altar.
Always strives to be pure, sweet, and mellow;
She’ll ever be my shining example.
She keeps me on the straight and narrow;
To the eternal, God’s holy temple.
She’s down to the earth and understands life,
Never lets an important issue pass.
When the road is tough and everywhere’s strife,
Without fail she’ll evermore hold me fast.
Although no one has exact perfection,
I thank her with much gratification.

Bridge Out

Beacon: a light or other visible object serving as a signal, warning, or guide.

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is to disagree with someone when they're wrong rather than telling them whatever they want to hear.  Whether we believe truth or lies about God has eternal consequences.  Yes, God loves everyone but there is NO other way to heaven except through Jesus.

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"  John 14:6

Is it loving to take down the "bridge out" warning and let people think that nothing bad will happen if they continue on the road they're on?

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden."  Matthew 5:14

Overwhelming Victory

35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?

37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
